The Struggle is Real

It’s been 6 weeks since the Biggest Loser challenge came to an end and I’m happy to report that I’m still working hard at my weight loss. I push myself each and every day and it feels amazing 🙂 I walk an average of 16,000 steps a day and so far my highest day was 25,629! I can’t tell you much I love my Fitbit Charge HR. Well, if you follow me on Instagram then you DO know how much I love it lol. It truly has been a huge motivator for me and the challenges I do with a group of friends via the Fitbit has made it easy to motivate and encourage each other. Some have even called me an inspiration! I never would have dreamed that would happen 🙂 I love helping others achieve their goals and get excited when they have their highest steps ever to date or get milestones badges. It make ME feel good to see them succeed.

One thing I failed to mention in my last post was the amount of willpower a person needs to make big changes like this. During the course of the 10 weeks of our challenge, I had Thanksgiving, Halloween, a girls night and the worst was my mom’s work party the NIGHT BEFORE FINAL WEIGH IN! Each one of those occasions I had to make conscious decisions about what I ate and drank. Each one of those times there would be at least one person who would tell me it’s OK to have just one drink or to just enjoy one meal of burger and fries. Yes, I could have given in, but I knew I needed to get past situations like that if I was ever going to succeed and make this a permanent life-style change.

Now I’m not saying you can’t EVER have days like that. I have since the challenge was over, but during those 10 weeks I had to be laser focused on what needed to be done to make this really stick with me. I can honestly say that even when I do have “cheat days” I honestly don’t even feel good after eating. My body doesn’t appreciate it lol. Even after one or two drinks I start to not feel well. For anyone who knows me…for me to be done after two is UNHEARD OF! Just one more thing I’m proud of accomplishing 🙂

This journey has been truly life-changing in more ways than I ever thought possible. To date I am down 22.4 pounds 🙂 I still have a bit to go to reach my goal weight of 165, but I’m making healthy progress towards it every day.

I’ve given myself a goal to walk in five 5K races this summer and I’m happy to say that I’ve already signed up for three so far 🙂 I look forward to keeping you updated on how I do in them. Right now, we are training to get me down to a 13.30 minute mile. My fastest so far is 14.32. Some day I hope to maybe run one 🙂 I’m trying to figure out why I get terrible shin splints during the first leg of our walk…it really screws up my timing and is HORRIBLY painful. Does anyone have any tips to make those go away or at least stretches to help with them?

Each day I fall more in love with this new lifestyle and I’m happy to be finally sharing my journey with you 🙂 I’d love to help you on your journey too! If you have a Fitbit and would like to join me in some challenges, just leave me a message here and I’ll reach out to you.

Enjoy your day!

Much love,

Liz
