August Recap and September Goals

I’m a little behind with getting this posted. Better late than never though! August was an incredibly busy month and September has started off busy as well. Every weekend this month is booked! Let’s see how I did with my August goals and see what is planned for September.

August Recap

Home Life:

·        Refinish old dresser SUCCESS!! I couldn’t be happier with how this project turned out. I’ll be posting the story about this later in the month.

dresser redo

·        Organize our closet FAIL Even though I failed at organizing the closet I DID get out entire room picked up. It feels so much more relaxing! This will be going back on the list for next month.

·        Design living room shelving unit SUCCESS! The unit is designed and I have all the measurements, but now I need to actually go buy everything and then build it. The actual build will also probably happen over the winter when I don’t want to go outside and deal with snow.
Business:

·        Create Portrait/Children, Wedding, and Family pages on the blog FAIL This will also be going back on for next month. I have a list of the images I want to add to each of them, but need to add watermarks and get them uploaded.

Personal/Health:

·        Walk every day FAIL I had two awesome days of kickboxing and then I was so sore I couldn’t move! That was how short my success was at getting back in shape. This will be going back on the list and I have a plan in place to make sure this is a priority.

·        Read one book – SUCCESS/FAIL The success is that I’ve at least been reading every night. Right now I’m in the process of reading two different books. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson and Radical Self Love by Gala Darling. These two books couldn’t be more opposite. Lawson’s book has had me laughing so hard I’ve almost cried where Gala’s book is much more of how to live a life of happiness and to fulfill your dreams. Depending on the day I’ve had, I have two great options to read. I highly recommend both of them.
Even though I didn’t have complete success last month with my goals, I can honestly say it was the best month I’ve had in a long time. I’m balancing my photography and my home life much better. It’s about this time in the year where I start to feel burnt out from working full time, doing photography and trying to do things around the house. Are you ready to see what I have planned for September?

September Goals

Home Life:

·        Refinish mirror to go above the entry way dresser Both of these pieces came out of my grandpa’s chicken coop and boy did they need some love. It compliments the dresser perfectly.

·        Organize our bedroom closet I’ve finally had it with not being able to find shoes and things just crammed wherever they fit. I’m looking forward to getting it all under control 🙂

Business:

·        Update Children/Portraits and Family pages on the blog home page This will only take one evening to complete so it’s on the top of my action item list. Then as I complete sessions, I can add new images to the top.

·        Organize all craft sale supplies in one area I’m participating in my second craft fair on September 12th and I want to get everything staged in one area. Once it’s over, I want to have an area where all these items will be stored so I don’t have to search around. Hopefully I can find everything! I’m also putting together a helpful checklist for anyone who is preparing to do a craft fair. I learned a TON from the first one I did.
Personal/Health:

·        Walk every day We will be walking right after dinner each night to help make sure this goal is met. Once I sit down and start working on editing or a project, I put off exercising until it’s too late in to the evening to do anything.

·        Read every night Another habit I want to keep working on as I truly do love to read.

I’m going to make September a relaxing month. We have two camping trips planned and a craft fair, but other than that, we really don’t have a lot going on. I’m looking forward to spending more time in the house working on projects, cleaning up flower beds, having fires on the weekends to enjoy what time we have before the snow flies and just enjoying the season.
I hope everyone is having a great week and I hope you all had a safe and fun Labor Day!!

Much love,
Liz
