Decorating with Watercolors

We’re finally settled into our new house but I still can’t believe we’re really here. I catch myself more than once during the day stopping and looking around while the reality sinks in. We’re almost completely unpacked and I can’t tell you how amazing it feels.

I’ve been working on creating a gallery wall in our living room, collecting photos and other items I want to display. Things are just too bare!

I was once again reading the fabulous blog, The Lilypad Cottage, and Kelly was talking about this app called Waterlogue. She showcased one of the photos she had taken and then used the Waterlogue app to create a watercolor painting of her photo. It was beautiful!! You can see her post here 🙂

I downloaded the app and started playing around with some photos from Panama. I should note that this app is only available for the iPhone or iPad.

There are so many different options in the app for the style of the water-coloring you want, how strong the lines are, and how big you want the image and so on. It’s really fun to play around with one image and do a few different edits to it. They all come out so different!

Here’s a good example of the same image done two different ways.

I found some favorite images on my phone from our trip, ran them through the Waterlogue app and transferred them to my computer so I could get them ordered.

Kelly used Snapfish to print her images, but I was having issues with Snapfish and Shutterfly, so I ended up just ordering my prints from the lab I use for my photography. Within a few days, I had my prints!

Aren’t they AMAZING!?!?! I love each and every one of them and can’t wait to get them framed and up on the wall.

I’ve also been using this app to create new canvases, note cards and prints for the studio. I can’t stop printing in watercolor!!! The hubby said I’m going a little overboard lol.

I look forward to showing you the finished gallery wall. It will probably be a few months, though. I’m slowing adding more and more things as I go through boxes. Here is my collection so far.

Have you used this app before? I’d love to hear what you think of it. Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July!

Much love,

Liz
